MCFN Treaty Lands cover most of the Greater Toronto and Golden Horseshoe Region of Ontario. This encompasses major municipalities including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and others.
MCFN’s Treaty Lands wrap around the west end of Lake Ontario, from the eastern edge of Balmy Beach in Toronto’s east end to the Niagara River. From there, it moves westward along the north shore of Lake Erie to west of Long Point (south of Brantford), where it moves inland to wrap around Waterloo, Wellington, Halton, Peel, and Part of York Region.
The Haldimand Tract is also within MCFN Treaty Lands. This area was purchased from the Mississaugas of the Credit by the Crown in 1784 and provided to Six Nations of the Grand River as a land grant, which extends six miles on both sides of the Grand River from its mouth to its source. These boundaries were defined by the Mississaugas and the Crown in 1792.
